However, if you grew up in a tight mouthed family when it came to sharing emotional feelings or your man did, than this direct approach is a huge step from your comfort zone and the answer too directly uncomfortable for him.
The comfort zone can be expanding to a fulfilling level of communication by forming a habit of praiseful communication. Before you know it you will have opened the flood gates to effective communication.

Beginning is far simpler than one would think. Make a mental note of all the things you like and respect about your man. Make note about how he makes you feel cared for, how he makes you feel happiness and the ways he exhibits his strengths. Now, what attracted him to you in the first place?

Now go down your list of mental notes and turn each to a complimentary statement of praise. Giving him praise and singling him out to be special in your eyes is send the message of love load and clear.
OH, and now that your comfort zone is expanding, you can likely engage in a rewarding conversation about his past, your past and what changes you'd make to the future. What makes you feel loved and what makes him feel loved and everything in between is the avenues of communication opened by giving praise.
